The morning started well with an all you can eat breakfast. I was happy that my egg was heart shaped. After a farewell hug with Bev and Denys it was time to get back on the road.

It was lovely that Danny was walking with me this morning. We cut along the path at a pace crossing the railway lines by passing under increasingly smaller tunnels.

Initially we took the high tide route but quickly became impatient with walking on roads so we crossed back to the coastal path. The walking became hard going in the 30 mph wind with gusts of 50 mph. The sand blasting into our faces making our cheeks look red. The path gave way to coastal erosion. So we had to walk along the pebbles on the beach. Eventually we had to climb the large boulders that were the tidal defences and finally back onto the path by the side of the railway lines.

The sea was swelling with large waves and foam. We could hardly hear ourselves talk.

The wind wind turbines were busy today at the two wind farms that we passed.
What are these cone shaped things along the beach? They look artificial. There were loads of them and the were all identical.

A big thanks to Elizabeth who joined us later this morning and then walked with me all the way to Whitehaven. You were great company and helped me keep the pace.

Blimey this next section was a badged as a scary bit!

We arrived in Whitehaven just as the sun was going down.

I had a cuppa in Tesco’s taking a few birthday calls. Aly met me here and drove Priscilla back to her house where I had a lovely soak in the bath followed by a birthday tea and wine and a lot of chat.
