Day 17: New Abbey to Glencaple

I was exhausted yesterday and so was in bed by 7:30pm. We took a bit of a lazy morning as my schedule today was a much shorter distance. I felt much more human after 12 hours in bed. We had stayed in the grounds of the Abbey which were very dramatic last night with the full moon behind them.

A quick chat to some cyclists who were interested in Priscilla and I was off for a 2 hour road walk to Dumfries.

I finally crossed the River Nith around midday and walked along the riverside path. As it was a Sunday I met a lot of families out for a walk and shared hearts with them.

Finally after almost 4 hours and more road walking I got to Glencaple. I had a lovely all day breakfast at the Boathouse which had amazing views over the river and across to where I had walked from today!

We had a lovely chat with Liz and Judith from Oldham who were on holiday birdwatching.

The Newbridge Country Park is our home for tonight and I had the most amazing shower. It felt like I had had a bath. I took the opportunity to massage my tight hamstrings and my poor feet. Result!

Best bits: brunch at the Boathouse and my shower

Worst bits: road walking and an extended walk

Distance: 11.4 miles
