Day 11: Port William to Wigtown

It was time for Ann and Joanne to say goodbye and hand over the keys to Priscilla and poo bags for Poppy.

So Poppy and re are solo today and it was to be another long day. After yesterday’s mammoth effort I decided it would be too much for Poppy so we cut across the headland instead.

It was to be 11 miles of road. Poppy wasn’t very impressed at being on the lead the whole time but safety first! The going was very slow when we came to A roads as the traffic was very fast and mainly no where for us to walk other than on the carriageway. That meant that every 20 seconds or so we had to move as far into the edge as possible. This combined with crossing sides of the road on bends so that we were as visible as possible to traffic resulted in really slow progress.

I was really pleased to see this as it signified halfway on todays walk.

I thought we had arrived but this was Bladnoch the village just before our destination.

I met a lovely lady called Diana who had heard my interview on BBC out of doors. Yeah!

We finally arrived after around 4 hours. Poppy was hungry so we both had something to eat and then I went to bed for a sleep. I woke up to see the sun setting. It reminded me of the sundowners Angela and I used to share. Cheers love. You are always in my heart.

Best bits: gorgeous sunset

Worst bits: road walking with Poppy.
