Day 4: Portencross to Irvine

A lift back to Portencross before Rhoda and Steve departed for home. Don’t worry they will be back soon.

then what do we have here. A beach stretching out in front of me. Hurrah! Poppy made some new acquaintances.

It wasn’t long before I stopped at Gill’s house and had a cuppa and a chat. She had kindly offered to let me park Priscilla there for the night. She did one better and offered to look after Poppy for the day to give her a rest.

The terrain was mixed for my battered feet.

The views were great this morning as it was mostly beaches. Ah finally this is what I signed up for. However, walking on my own I was missing Angela again.

Time for lunch in Ardrossan Asda who re kindly providing me with something to eat at any stores I pass through. Jackie and Bethany finally sorted me out.

Onwards but now heading inland around the estuary past Garnet floods nature reserve which is surrounded by a refuse and recycling site and the installation of a massive solar farm.

Heading into Irvine and feeling fatigued when a familiar cheery figure appeared to walk me in the last couple of miles. What a good son.

Miles: 17.5

Steps: 34,824

Walking time: 5 hrs 35 mins

Elevation: 292 feet

Best bits: Gill giving Poppy a rest day. Cheery Danny’s appearance.

Worst bits: painful feet!
