Day 356: Clachan of Glendaruel to Strachur

Best bits: donations

Worst bits: rain

Distance: 12.5 miles

Days to the finish: 9

What great news from the Guides, Brownies and Rainbows. They raised £700 from their Pumpkin Plod 🎃yesterday. Well done girls that’s absolutely brilliant.

I had a very sleepless night last night. It rained on and off for most of the evening but in the short periods between the rain, the sky cleared and I could see thousands of stars in the sky.

I was on a tight schedule today as I had to walk to Strachur in time to get the bus back. What a contrast to yesterday, the sun was out and the sky was blue.

I enjoyed the sun shining on the deciduous trees creating a golden hue.

I even had a chance to play with my shadow.

After yesterday’s lack lustre views, it was great to finally get some today.

I’m starting to see signs for Glasgow at every junction. It’s a great feeling. Home is calling.

Oak trees are known for their resilience, long life, and ability to withstand harsh weather. Maybe I’m ‘as strong as an oak’ a metaphor for my strength and endurance during this trek.

I managed to walk all the way today without taking a break. I was conscious that the weather forecast was for rain this afternoon and that was accurate. The final hour was very wet indeed.

I was glad when I arrived at the Bay cottage tea room. This little place has everything it’s a post office, a shop and a tea room. The staff were generous with a donation. I also spoke to a couple from Glossop who were out walking they also gave a donation.

I had to cross the Peninsula today and it was strange to have the sea on my left.

Can you believe that these two photographs were taken only 6 minutes apart? The rain was definitely coming in fast.

I managed to catch the bus back to retrieve Priscilla. The bus driver was the same one as yesterday and he also gave a donation.

Then boy did it rain. I was glad I was in Priscilla and out of the rain for a change.

I was feeling really tired after my lack of sleep last night and so after a quick cuppa I jumped into bed. I woke around 8 pm! Tomorrow is going to be a long walk and so I decided to do some carb loading. I hope it works.
