Day 355: Tighnabruaich to Clachan of Glendaruel

Best bits: speed of walking

Worst bits: rain and poor visibility

Distance: 11.6 miles

Days to the finish: 10

It was poor visibility and low cloud as I set off to catch the bus this morning. It started raining just as the bus arrived. I did have some great views from the bus windows and hoped that I would be able to get some photographs of them as I walked past later.

I departed the bus where I had got on it yesterday at Tighnabruaich and walked along the main street before climbing up the hill to the main road.

There was a short reprieve from the rain and I managed to get some photographs of the views.

The rain continued for most of the morning obliterating most of the views.

Halfway point for this morning’s walk was at a viewpoint. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any view at all however I did have my flask with me and so had a cup of tea staring into the mist.

The signpost indicated what I should have been able to see.

The rain continued again for the next hour and a half before I arrived back at Priscilla soaking wet.

I had managed the 9 miles from Tighnabruaich to Priscilla in under three hours, including my tea break.

I was able to have a couple of hours break in Priscilla. I managed to get my clothes and shoes dried before setting out again for another couple of miles. Fortunately, it was only light drizzle and I managed the 2 1/2 miles in around 40 minutes. That meant I then had a half an hour wait for the bus. The sun came out for a few minutes and brightened up my day. I recorded a video message for the guides wishing them look on their walk this evening.

I spent the evening planning the final logistics for the next couple of days. I can’t believe that I am now so close to Glasgow and home.
