Best bits: donation total over £44,000, dolphin display, amazing pizza
Worst bits: feeling tired
Distance: 9.7 miles
Another disturbed nights sleep for me. I’m sure I waked another 10 miles in my bed! This was offset immediately when we looked at today’s donation total of £44,000 thanks to a donation overnight from Sara, Paul and Hanna who we met yesterday at the Elphin cafe.
This was my start point the hills reflected in Loch Awe. It’s not the same Loch Awe where Angela and I had our civil partnership but it did make me think about that wonderful day we had in 2006.

It was a wee bit chilly as the dark clouds came over and I thought I might get wet but I only got damp.

My route means that I’m walking along the main road A835 but once again the views were spectacular. I get a few strange looks from some drivers and a few impatient drivers hurtling along the road a breakneck speeds in sports cars when I do my best to jump out of their way.

The sky is constantly changing and the clouds were swirling over the top of this mountain making it look very mysterious and atmospheric.

After 5 miles I could see our refreshment stop at Ardmair point cafe. What an absolutely beautiful view it was from there. While we were there Aly spotted a pod of dolphins, which were at least 10 in number, frolicking in the water for about 20 minutes. Unfortunately they were too far away to get photos.

From there it seemed like a quick walk into Ullapool where I walked along the busy seafront.

Aly and I met for lunch in the Bothy cafe where I had a jacket potato and cheese which was yummy. Aly, poor thing, was suffering an upset stomach and so just had toast.
I was tired so after a shower went to bed for a nana nap. it was after 5pm when I woke up and was ready for food. Aly had found a good pizza place, the Oak and Grain, on trip advisor so off we went. It was very busy and so we sat outside. The pizzas were truly amazing. We had just finished when the heavens opened and we retreated inside. This was where we were fortunate enough to meet Donald and Anna. We had great conversations about The Drum, where Donald grew up, walking, the Hebrides as they live on Harris, grief and wind farms.

Aly and I went back to the comfort of Priscilla and Donald and Anna back to their tent. I was feeling smug until we got close to Priscilla only to realise that I had left my roof window wide open and it was directly over my bed! With a sinking feeling I examined my bedding. To my absolute relief it was all dry. Phew a very lucky escape.
