Day 113: rest day Hartland

It rained incessantly from the time I got back to Priscilla yesterday. The wind continued to pick up overnight and it was like sleeping in a rollercoaster as Priscilla was buffeted around in the strong wind. I decided during the night that today was going to be a rest day. The weather forecast was for 100% rain and 35 mile an hour winds with gusts up to 60 miles an hour and that was for Hartland which is inland. I guessed it would be even stronger on the cliff tops and I didn’t want to repeat the episode in Wales where I had been blown off my feet.

This turned out to be the right decision because when I got up this morning, I couldn’t put any weight on my ankle. So I had a lazy morning resting, treating my ankle with ice and ibuprofen gel.

I took the opportunity to do a few jobs such as sorting out my vitamins for the weeks ahead. Some general cleaning and sorting in Priscilla was also required.

However I spent most of my time trying to sort out the logistics for the rest of my journey. I focused on the next few weeks until Bridget arrives but also looked at beyond this trying to confirm the offers of support I have received.

Then it was time to leave heartland for Bude to meet Chris and Louise who had offered to put me up for the evening and for Chris to walk with me tomorrow. The sunset was quite spectacular.
