This morning it was a disaster as the gas had ran out! So no cup of tea until I changed the gas bottle. Fortunately it wasn’t raining but it was still dark and I needed the head torch! Then Bev made up by making scrambled eggs with cheese on bagels.
It was an early start, 8:15am, for walking to make the most of the light. Today much of the route is road walking but at least this morning I was treated to a beautiful sunrise which was following me for an hour or so. Radiating its light on my face.

I felt good today as if I had had a rest. It was a contrast to the few days leading up to arriving in Blackpool as they felt like a real slog and compounded by late finishes in the dark on busy roads.
There’s been a flurry of activity on the Facebook and Instagram posts today courtesy of Angela Rippon. Some new followers and a £100 donation. Yippee.
I met two guys from Lancashire Council who were running out into the middle of the A road to spray paint on potholes. We had a brief chat about the dangers of being on A roads and the necessity of high viz but how sometimes drivers seem to even ignore that. They had distance measuring wheels and they said that they sometimes do about 100 miles in a month. Of course I had to do one better and tell them that I’m walking about over 100 miles a week. They were quite amazed. I shared some hearts with them and told them to stay safe.

I met Bev in Morrisons for a cuppa and a cake and we planned the next bit of the route.
I walked around the marina and was impressed as it is very large and seems much bigger than some of the docks in Liverpool.

I love it when whoever is driving Priscilla goes past and they honk the horn. It gives me a great boost and brings a smile to my face.
The map showed me that I needed to cross the river on a large bridge and as I approached it i had flashbacks to other bridges I’ve crossed over rivers where I’ve had to hop over the crash barriers jump over barbed wire fences and scramble up and down banks. I hoped that this would be different. I walked under the bridge and then back under the bridge again because there was no obvious sign of a way onto it. So yet again I had to find a little path through the undergrowth hop over the crash barriers and fortunately it had a cycle path on the side of it so it was a nice safe crossing in the end. Phew!

A little side road off the bridge brought me onto I can only describe his overkill compared to what I’m used to. There are two pedestrian walkways and two cycle lines all on the same side of the road with a sort of central reservation separating all of that from the road itself. Amazing.

Bev has embraced Fiona’s messages and has been purchasing protein packed food today so I’ve got yoghurts, desserts, bagels and even pittas!!
My mind was wondering a bit while I was walking this afternoon and I was thinking about Angela on our wedding day. She was so happy looking gorgeous in that dress. I became very emotional shedding a few tears. It’s a hard dress to fill and she filled it so well. Physically and emotionally. She loved twirling in it on our wedding day. She always liked to spin and twirl when we were dancing. We used to have a little dance every night before we went to bed even if it was just for a few seconds.

Bev confessed that there had been a little ‘Snaxident’ where she had dropped something edible and Poppy was quicker to react!
Bev is a fresh air freak and I noticed that Priscilla’s windows were open! I’m sure there will be more of that this week.

I then inducted Bev in the art of motorhome conservation matters such as putting g remaining hot water from the kettle in a flask.

After dinner and a shower it was time to catch up on all things social, including this blog and a call with Di with whom we are staying tomorrow evening. Three hours later it’s finally time for sleep!
Best bits: feeling good walking, nice footpaths
Worst bits: none
