Day 353: Carradale to Claonaig

Best bits: beautiful colours, fantastic food and company

Worst bits: rain, rain, rain

Distance: 14.3 miles

Days to the finish: 12

Emma and Andrew had had a very strange evening. The hotel owners had left for the evening leaving Emma Andrew alone in the dark and dingy hotel. They had both found it a bit spooky! They were glad to leave even though they had booked in for two nights! They booked something else in Tarbert.

Emma had offered to drive Priscilla today which meant that we didn’t have to backtrack at the end of the day.

Today was really, really wet. This meant that unfortunately photographs were poor as the mist and cloud covered the hills.

I did get a few views of the coast which cheered me up.

A plus point was that this diffuse light made the colour of the bracken really pop out amongst everything else. I was fascinated by these rich golden brown and orange colours.

There was quite a lot of ascent which when the clouds parted which meant I could once again see the coastline. we had meant to stop for lunch at the Arran viewpoint but as there was no view of Arran I missed this stop out.

Towards the end of the day Emma and Andrew joined me in the rain for the final couple of miles.

We the drove back to Tarbert where we were just in time to catch the final lunch orders of the day at Lullabelles. Of course it was another truly excellent meal. This time a Thai curry.

Then it was a short walk back to the fabulously bright and cheerful cottage for an excellent shower followed by wine and nibbles and chatter until late!

What an excellent view from my parking spot at Tarbert Harbour this evening.
