Day 337: rest day Glasgow

Best bits: the movies

Worst bits: feeling unwell!

Distance: rest day

I was able to have a very leisurely morning. Both Danny and Sara were working, although Sara was working from home. Apparently it was face mask Friday and I woke up to this.

Storm Amy started to close in fast as the day progressed. Unfortunately, the event organisers for the Great Scottish Run cancelled the children’s event for Saturday.

I chatted to a journalist from ‘Take a break’ magazine and the article is going to be published in issue number 46 on the 13th of November.

As the afternoon progressed, I started to feel a little unwell and nauseous with flashing lights. Then I vomited a couple of times and my stomach was sore for the rest of the day. I was hoping this would not continue for the rest of the weekend.

Sara had a few friends round after work to celebrate the launch of Taylor Swift’s new album. By this time the rain and the wind had really picked up. I was on a seat that looked directly out of the window and could see the tree on the opposite side of the road whipping around in the wind. That got progressively worse until there was a loud snap and the tree fell over. We all rushed up to the window to take a look. Unfortunately, there were two cars parked beneath it and they were covered by the fallen tree and the road was blocked. We felt really sorry for the owner of this car.

The police arrived to assess the situation and cordoned off the road. Danny and I were going out to the cinema and had to ask the police car to move to let us out.

Danny was very excited as we were going to see avatar in 3-D at the IMAX cinema Glasgow Science Centre. It’s a long time since I’ve been there. I used to be a regular visitor because I had a desk in the Science Centre for a few years as part of my role at work.

The film was really long, over three hours, but it didn’t seem that long while we were watching it. There was so much action in the movie that it kept our attention.

On the way home, Danny and I called in for pizza at Civerinos where the staff were so lovely and gave us our pizza slices for free. There really are so many lovely people in the world.

Can you believe that by the time we got home, the tree had been completely removed and the road was open again.
