Best bits: fun with photography
Worst bits: misjudging refreshments
Distance: 12.9 miles
It was another beautiful morning as I ventured outside from Priscilla. The water of Loch Lochy was still and the sunlight was reflecting off the hills producing a golden glow.

After some breakfast Emma and I set off along the Great Glen Way in fabulous sunshine. Emma had forgone her swim in the loch but we spotted her friends who were halfway across.

We were soon at the end of Loch Lochy and were back on the Caledonian Canal. The conditions were perfect for capturing reflections today.

As you may know I like experimenting with photography and this was the very best of our efforts.

We spoke with several people mainly walking in the opposite direction as just starting out on the Great Glen way. We also met a nice couple from the US who raise money for pancreatic cancer as she is a survivor.
This barge does adventure holidays and the deck was packed with kayaks and other equipment.

The fabulous Gill, who completed the LEJOG solo last year, met us for refreshments at Neptunes staircase. The Ben (Ben Nevis) is in the background. Emma said the vast majority of the mountain rescue team call outs, around 150 per year, were on the Ben.

Our refreshment stop at 11:30 meant that we were too late for the breakfast menu which finished at 9:30 and too early for the lunch menu which stared at 12:30! So we had tea and scones.
Finally after walking along the side of many lochs and the canal we were back on the coast.

This statue depicts a worker smelting aluminium at the Lochaber Smelter which opened in 1929 and is now the last remaining aluminium smelter in the United Kingdom. It’s powered by hydroelectricity generated from the Nevis range.

Johnathan gave us a lift back to collect Priscilla which was parked outside their house. Then I did the return trip to Fort William to meet Fiona.

Fiona had travelled by bus from Glasgow. It was great to see her again. After a cuppa and a catch up and a quick shop in Morrisons we looked for a place to park. The long stay car parks said no motorhomes between 21:00 and 8:00! We finally parked up at Lidl checking with the manager first that we could stay overnight.
Then food was required and more catching up before bedtime. Who doesn’t like a Belgian bun?
