Best bits: sea life galore, great food

Yesterday I booked Aly and I trip on the Shearwater cruises to the Summer Isles. Fortunately for us the weather was kind, the sea was flat and it was cool but perfect for sailing. We popped on our winter jackets just in case.
We had only been going about 10 minutes when we were visited by a large pod of dolphins. They came alongside and entertained us for about 10 minutes. What a delight.
I manage to take lots of photographs but they are nothing like the real thing.
We saw another pod of about 50 dolphins later on and they also came alongside some of them were mothers with babies. Later we were lucky enough to see a couple of minke whales from a distance. They are so much slower and sedate than the dolphins.
Then to top everything off we saw sea eagles. What an amazing trip. The history and geology information was great too but blurred into the background of the buzz we got from seeing the wildlife.
After all that excitement we had to go for a cuppa and cake.
We went back to Priscilla for a rest before we went out for dinner at the Ceilidh Place in Ullapool. We had just arrived at the restaurant when the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate the building. Fortunately it wasn’t long before we could retreat inside. The food was delicious and so were the cocktails.
At the end of the day we were treated to a light show as this cruise ship slowly entered the port. It was a still evening and the sea was calm, I absolutely loved the reflection in the water.
