Day 297: sick day

Best bits: gorgeous scenery

Worst bits: feeling awful, gadgets confirmation!

Distance: sick day

After two codeine tablets last night to suppress my cough I managed a good nights sleep. However when I woke this morning I was very hot. Lynn insisted that I take my temperature which was 38.8*C. Then this popped up from my Oura ring! No escaping the fact then! Lynn thought I may have Covid because I looked so terrible and had all the symptoms!

The campsite we were on was full today so we had to move on. The journey was the route I should have been walking on and the scenery was amazing but en route poor Lynn was stung by a bee that came in through the window so we had to do an unanticipated stop by the roadside. Bee removed and sting treated we were off again.

We were stopped at traffic lights and were shocked by the amount of time these roadworks would be on for, 138 weeks! I could walk right round the coast more than twice before they get finished! We hoped that the traffic lights would not take that long to change.

Our campsite was at Tongue and is surrounded by fabulous scenery. Ben Hope looked very majestic.

I spent all afternoon in bed trying to rest. Later I managed to walk to the toilet block on the campsite, all of 50m and felt tired when I got back! I feel as weak as a kitten.

By the time I was ready for bed my heart rate data showed high levels of stress for most of the day even though I had spent almost all of it lying down resting.

I’m hoping that I feel better tomorrow but know that I need at least another sick day!!! My Oura ring has spoken. Gutted 😞
