Best bits: ticking off my job list
Worst bits: saying goodbye to Bev
Distance: rest day
Last night was very noisy with music playing in the distance until midnight. Then there was the series of screams and general noise of people coming out of places for the evening. In addition to this the seagulls decided to squawk for quite some time.
Bev woke me up with a cup of tea and it wasn’t long before it was time for her to leave. I drove her to the train station which was only a mile away, but on the way Bev managed to switch the satnav off and we ended up doing a convoluted loop right round Aberdeen. It’s just as well we left early.
Last night we did a debrief on Bev’s second tour as Traceys Trek support team. One of the best bits for me anyway was the amount of time we spoke about Angela and sharing our feelings for her.

I had a long list of jobs to do today. The first one was to get a replacement gas bottle which I did on my way back from the train station, then put it in the container by first removing the live one and then replacing it. I did some general cleaning and rearranging before doing a spot of shopping for provisions.
Logistics for the week ahead were the main item for today as I don’t have a support crew and will be relying on getting myself to and from Priscilla by public transport and finding places to park Priscilla.
Interestingly, people are telling me that they are worried about me on this last leg of my journey as the area is very remote and rugged, lacks phone signals, and I will be on my own. This has caused me increased anxiety and concern about my ability to complete this section. So I also managed a quick look at the next stages of the walk.

I realise that I need to continue to focus just on the day ahead and not worry too much about the bigger picture. I’ve been reflecting on how I managed North Wales, Pembrokeshire, and Cornwall in the winter months. Those areas are also rugged and remote, lack phone signal, I was on my own and the weather was very inclement at times.
With that in mind it was back to the task at hand and I had not one but two interviews for magazines today. It’s a bit like buses, you’re waiting for one for ages and then two come along all at once. I will keep you posted.

Today marks 99 days to go. Heather came up with a great suggestion of having a 99 ice cream today. I couldn’t be bothered to walk for one and so here is a recycled photo of me eating one previously on my trip on 1st April near Abbotsbury. I think I look suitably excited.

Tomorrow, I’m having company on my walk as Debs will be joining me for the day.
