Day 233: Let’s party

Best bits: fantastic party

Worst bits: being one not a couple

Distance: rest day!

This morning we had to empty Priscilla in readiness for her appointment at the repair shop! She is finally going to get her water leak fixed on Monday! It’s only been 24 weeks!!!!! let’s hope it doesn’t take that long to process it.

Fortunately Steve’s garage is very tidy and had room for a car. It didn’t by the time all my possessions were scattered around the floor.

Then it was off to the fundraiser party organised by Philip and Penny in their garden. What a fabulous time we had. It was like a mini festival with live singers, raffle, tombola, football cards and other fundraising activities. There were about 60 people there.

Time for a family photo. My son Danny and his partner Sara, 2 brother in laws, 2 sister in laws, 3 nieces and one nephew and their partners, 4 great nieces and 2 great nephews. Phew!

There was a very, very heavy downpour with accompanying ‘Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me
(Galileo) Galileo, (Galileo) Galileo, Galileo Figaro’. Which Danny was fascinated by because it went on for about an hour.

Fortunately there was a gazebo and the bar to escape to. Also some people came prepared with umbrella hats.

There were two singers, lots of dancing and even more drinking until the very wee hours.

A massive thanks to Phil and Penny for organising, hosting and keeping the show on the road.

Also thanks to my handsome nephew Willis for sharing his birthday celebration.

Although I was surrounded by family I felt the loss of Angela very acutely. Everyone else was in a couple and I was only half of one watching everyone else sharing and being with their partners. It’s those moments, the closeness, the looks, the twinkling of eyes, the laughter, dancing, holding hands, physical contact, the creating and sharing memories that I miss the most and affected me deeply making me feel empty inside and more of an onlooker than a participant. This took me a little by surprise, I suppose because I’ve been on the road and out of social gatherings. I’m holding onto precious memories.
