Day 170: Seaford to Eastbourne (Seven Sisters)

Best bits: beautiful scenery

Worst bits: saying goodbye to Laura

Distance: 12.6 miles

This morning Laura obliged by being interviewed by me asking her thoughts on my journey. Then we reversed roles and she interviewed me.

We caught Will just as he emerged from upstairs and we both asked him a series of questions.

Laura had to return to London and so we said our goodbyes. It was so nice to see her again.

The weather was really nice, sunny but windy and so Will and I decided to walk the route of the Seven Sisters today. It was early afternoon before we arrived there and the car park was full so we had to park in an overflow car park.

Pretty soon after we had started walking, Poppy found herself a nice deep pool and went for a swim. This was much to the amusement of multiple passers by.

It was really nice to be sharing the walk with Will. The last time we went for a walk together, was on the Great Wall Of China back in October.

Will was acting like an official photographer for me today. I managed to catch this one of him in role.

The scenery today was quite spectacular. The white chalk cliffs shone against the green grass on the cliff tops.

The paths here were extremely busy as it was Easter Saturday and the weather had brought everyone out. Interestingly, there seemed to be people here from all nations as they were multiple languages being spoken.

Unfortunately, these chalk cliffs are very prone to erosion. There were many cracks in the cliff tops leaving them vulnerable to further collapse. Nature has no mercy and even the paths suffer as seen in this photograph.

Eventually, we came to Beachy Head which is the highest sea cliff in Britain, rising to 162 m (531 ft) above sea level.

Rather sadly Beachy Head is apparently the third most common suicide spot in the world. It has its own chaplaincy services on the lookout for potential jumpers.

Despite being an old girl of 12 Poppy managed to walk the whole distance today.

The blue sky came out for us and continued to give us an amazing views. Will wasn’t used to the ups and downs that I have been undertaking over the last five months.

Eventually, we saw our destination for today, Eastbourne pier. It was looking rather resplendent in the sunny weather, it’s domes capped with gold spikes.

Greg drove down from London to meet us in Eastbourne and gave us a lift back to Priscilla. We all then drove back to Brighton where we went out for a fantastic vegan meal at Purezza. The staff were lovey too.
