Best bits: a visit from Judith and Alex
Worst bits: parking ticket!
Distance: 10 miles
A bit of a lay in this morning as Judith and Alex weren’t arriving until 10 am. It was great to see Judith and to meet Alex. We popped down to the shore and had a cuppa and a quick catch up before we set off for the day.

We had just set off from Beer and Judith was just recovering from the first flights of steps when we met Sue, who was watching the rooks nesting. They were making quite the racket.

As we came up over the top, we got our first view of Seaton and also came across our first sign of danger. We certainly weren’t going close to the edge.

Seaton was going to be the only place to stop off today so although it was cold, I suggested we make the most of it and have an ice cream at the Spot On kiosk. Judith and I can highly recommend it.

This was the point of no return. We had to fully commit to this journey through the undercliff.

The terrain of the Undercliff resembles that of the jungle comprising dense undergrowth, fallen trees and detritus, including rocks from previous landslides. The path twist and turns so that it’s difficult to work out what direction you are travelling in or how high or how far from the sea you are.

Eventually, we came to a very small viewpoint that had a bench. We decided this was the best spot for lunch.

This was like a film set from the land of the Giants and Judith was a little person here.
Once in Lyme Regis, we walked along the seafront trying to find somewhere that would offer us a cream tea. Disaster the only café we found that was open had run out of scones.

Of course we had waited all day to do our dance5000miles for our Fitsteps family. What a better place to do it than on the beach in front of the little beach huts.

We had entertained passersby and Yvonne and Sue who saw it all from the comfort of their beach hut. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a kettle otherwise being from Yorkshire and in particular Sheffield I would have blagged a cup of tea. I’m sure they would have obliged as they have just moved from Sheffield.

Then I had to say my goodbyes to Judith and Alex. What a great day I’ve had, with great company and entertainment.
Unfortunately, on returning to Priscilla there was a parking ticket fixed to the windscreen! Not a great start to my time in Dorset.
