Best bits: arriving at Lizard, amazing views, meeting lovely Allen
Worst bits: mud!
Distance: 14.7 miles
We packed up Priscilla and drove to Helston where she would be parked up all day. Then back to yesterday’s finish point at Porthleven. I knocked on the window of the Twisted Currant tea room and waved to the staff as I passed by.

I decided to wear one of my flags today. I hadn’t got very far from Porthleven when I met Jodie and Alex. They spotted my flag and asked what I was doing. Jodie like Angela was also a mental health nurse.

Low Bar was an interesting beach as it separates the sea from a lake. It was hard walking here as the sand is very coarse and deep.

I met back up with Bridget at Mullían cove and we had lunch at the Chocolate Factory. The large building on the cliff top in this photo is a care home. What spectacular views it must have.

The path became very muddy like a wetland and I had to jump from clump to clump. I was glad I had my gaiters on.

The BBC has described Kynance Cove as “one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the South West” and it’s one of Bridget’s favourite places too. We met back up there and did the final stretch of walking together.

However, on my way down to the cove to meet Bridget I had to come down the cliff on my bottom as it was so steep! then the tide was in and so I had to walk up and round the cliff the long way round.

We chatted to Gill and Pete who were taking a breather on some steps on the path. Why is everyone except me wearing shades?

After a few false starts and incorrect identification we finally made it to Lizard Point. I had to use my OS map to identify the actual place.

As we looked back the sun came out and illuminated the sea and the cliffs of the Lizard.

The lighthouse and the car park were now the final stretch of today’s walk. Typically all uphill!

At last I found a sign with Lizard Point on it. Yippee.

Way before the start of my walk the lovely Allen offered me space to stay at his caravan park, Silver Sands, Gwendreath, Lizard, Helston. Well today was the day we finally met. What a generous offer too. He has let Bridget and myself stay in one of his caravans and he even fired up the hot tub for us. Such decadence at the end of a day walking. Sorry the pictures of us in the hot tub were not flattering!
