Day 125: rest day Hayle

Best bits: getting my hair cut

Worst bits: still have a sore heel pad

Distance: none, rest day

I was hoping to have a lie in this morning, however, from early doors Asda car park was being cleaned with an incredibly noisy industrial power washer. Although I was woken early, I still lay in bed resting my legs and feet. I had to make the decision as to whether or not I was going to stay in Hayle or drive into St Ives and sightsee. I thought it best to rest my foot as best I could and so I stayed local.

The main jobs for today included catching up on my social media, doing some shopping, sorting out some admin for Danny and Sara, and finally getting a haircut.

It took a few attempts before I finally found somewhere that had an appointment in the afternoon. This is me mid cut, the hairdresser didn’t want to be in the photograph. As soon as I get the chance I’d like to go pink again.

It was a sunny day and I sat in Priscilla for awhile and then popped over to the Asda Café for a cup of tea and a Belgian bun.

I was just paying when my phone rang. It was BBC Scotland, great news they want to do a live interview at 7:30 am on Saturday morning on the Out of doors program, an update on my progress so far.

The sun was just starting to set as I crossed the car park. Not a great view compared with the views I have been privileged to see over the last four months. Sometimes you have to enjoy the moment, regardless of the surroundings.

All that was left to be done was to plan the route for tomorrow, organise my provisions and cook dinner. Then it was off to bed as it’s an early start tomorrow as recommended by the guidebook! It said it was one of the toughest sections of the South West coast path!! With nowhere to stop off en route.
