Best bits: fabulous scenery in the sunshine, ice cream
Worst bits: freezing cold morning, sore ankle
Distance: 13.2 miles
It was absolutely perishing last night. I was even cold in bed and when I woke up this morning there was frost on all the windows of Priscilla. It took me a while to get up and brave the temperature. My feet were like blocks of ice and didn’t warm up until a good way into the walk.
The sun was shining and the sea was very calm making the views absolutely amazing. As I set off there was even some ice on the sand.

I met a lady called Caroline and her dog Duffers and we had a little chat while we were admiring the view from the top of the headland.

As I walked up to the top of the next headland I could see Newquay in the distance. That was a psychological boost this morning.

The scenery was dramatic with the black rocks contrasted against the smooth sand and blue sea.

There were many headlands to walk around today, but not too much ascent and decent which was great for my ankle. There was a new bay around every headland.

I met Becky who is a fellow Yorkshire lass but who now lives here.
Looking across to Watergate Bay, the cloud formations in the bright blue sky created patterns on the sea which were spectacular. I was on the lookout for the humpback whales that have recently taken up residence in the bay. However, I never saw any sign of them.

I then bumped into Naomi and fellow Scott Hugh. He used to live in Glasgow way before Angela and I moved there.

Some of the names of the beaches appealed to my sense of humour. This one is called Lusty Glaze beach! I think it would be great to stay in these apartments right on the beach.

After what turned out to be a warm days walking, I treated myself to an ice cream. It’s only the second one I’ve had on this journey and it was well worth the wait.

Although this was the intended finish for my walk, I decided to walk around the headland to Fistral beach as it was too early to catch the bus back.
I was almost at the bus stop when my my brother, Jason, rang saying he had organised a lift for me. There was just time to pop into a pub for a zero alcohol lager before Michael arrived to give me a lift back to Priscilla.
I had put a gel heel raise in my boot this morning and that seems to have helped my ankle today. However, the terrain wasn’t too difficult. I’ve got a rest day tomorrow so hopefully that will help too.
