Day 98: rest day Marie Curie Hospice Cardiff

Today was a very welcome non walking day. I was meeting Rachel and Elsa from the press teams at the Marie Curie hospice where they had arranged a press interview for me.

First of all, I was shown round the facilities and introduced to the staff. I told them about my trek and gave them some hearts.

I felt like a celebrity as we were followed around by two photographers and I talked to lots of the staff. Many of the photographs have been taken by Jeff. Thank you so much.

I was told that there was a special surprise for me today. I was kept in suspense for quite awhile before it was revealed. I had to watch a video whilst my reaction was being filmed.

It was absolutely awesome. Tom Daley, Olympian diver, had sent me a personal video message and had been crocheting some hearts for me. What an amazing thing to do. I was blown away. It means so much to have someone like him supporting what I’m doing and helping raise the profile of my fundraising. What a star.

I then had an interview with a journalist. The article came out shortly after, even in the Guardian, along with a request for an video interview tomorrow here at the hospice.

I spent the afternoon and evening checking over my social media and other administrative activities and generally getting myself up-to-date with things.

Blimey, what a day it’s been. Let’s see what tomorrow brings. As I settled back in Priscilla for the evening it started to get a little chilly. I put on the heating but it decided to be temperamental and so I just jumped into bed.

Best bits: Tom Daley’s message

Worst bits: temperamental heating

Distance: rest day
